Hosting Services provides complete solutions, from fully-managed outsourced options, virtualised or physical, on mainframes or blade environments, on-site or off-site with 99.9% uptime guaranteed, to co-location and software solutions, all of which are offered through flexible financial models.

The range of hosted services offered provides our clients with options best suited to meet their specific requirements and financial situations, and delivers a fully-integrated hardware, operating system, database and application solution through its networking infrastructure. Furthermore, we deliver on continuity requirements, with back-up and disaster recovery capabilities to ensure business continuity is in line with our clients’ requirements. Gijima also offers a managed security service to protect clients’ technology investments.

Hosting Services offers dedicated, secure and responsive ICT services aimed at positively impacting the client’s business experience.

The costs associated with hardware, software, connectivity and human resources are contracted on a long-term basis. This offers Gijima the opportunity to manage and decrease costs while increasing value over time. In cases where clients require ad-hoc or varying infrastructure services, Gijima can offer this on an on-demand basis. The client then pays for what is actually used over a period of time.

Hosting services is a 24x7 operation managing a number of client solutions. It can afford to offer a pro-active service whereby the engineers keep     watch over clients’ ICT by means of deployed tools. When an alarm is raised, immediate reaction follows even before the user logs a call.

Facility management

Gijima’s data centre facilities are situated in an established industrial area, where the building structures are reinforced to withstand natural and human disaster, and have since been optimised to provide an industry leading 24x7x356 hosting environment. The location is equipped with a reliable and dedicated power supply grid from the Tshwane municipality sub-stations, connected to a dual diesel generator, two 400kVa UPS and two battery rooms of 380V. This power supply maintains a climatically controlled environment, enabling Hosting Services to guarantee 99.9% uptime. Gijima can host client-owned equipment on its own premises, but also offers facilities management of clients’ premises.

Hosted infrastructure

With Gijima’s solid technology foundation from partners including IBM, Novell, VMware, Citrix, Cisco, HP, Telkom, Oracle, Unix, Microsoft, Software AG, BMC, Symantec, Computer Associates and others, Gijima delivers a fully integrated hardware and software infrastructure layer to fully manage the clients’ hosting requirements. In-house experts are trained to exceed industry levels and have the tools to operate at industry best-practice standards. Gijima can therefore provide clients with the facility as well as infrastructure (mainframe, server, SAN, operating system and DBA services) as part of this offering, where Gijima owns the infrastructure and the client pays for a service.

Infrastructure support services

Gijima offers (client) on-site, local (in town) and remote infrastructure support services. This includes a number of levels of service, from basic on/off monitoring, to comprehensive capacity and lifecycle management. In rendering this software support service, the team is well versed in mainframe operating systems such as Unix, Linux and Microsoft.

Configurations management

Core to managing any hardware and software infrastructure is the fact that each item under management must be identified, its current configuration status established and all changes be subjected to configuration change control. Gijima uses the Remedy software suite from BMC to accomplish this within the ITIL framework.

Enterprise system management

Gijima has the ability to monitor clients’ hardware and software, making use of a number of tools such as BMC’s Business Service Management suite of tools including Remedy ITSM, HP Openview, CA Unicenter, eHealth, MOM, etc. The monitoring services are offered in different tiers. The basic service is monitoring availability (on/off), complemented by performance management and capacity management. Gijima offers ESM as a service and charges per level of management per device, or can supply a turnkey solution in line with client needs.

Database administration services

In addition to the hardware and operating software support services, the administration of selected database technologies can be included. Common DBMS support includes ADABAS, SQL/Server and Oracle.

Continuity services

Gijima has the ability and resources to offer clients both on-site and off-site disaster recovery and business continuity solutions. Our data centre is equipped with the latest hardware and has capacity available to host your existing business continuity/disaster recovery infrastructure.

ICT infrastructure optimisation

Gijima offers a range of information and communication technology optimisation solutions based on experience and industry expertise. It offers its clients the opportunity to maximise the return on their ICT hardware and software assets. This includes consolidation, virtualisation and co-location. Beyond this, Gijima also has the ability to investigate, formulate and implement solutions whereby technology can contribute to the business through improved services and/or cost reduction.

Security management

Gijima offers both logical and physical security solutions. The Hosting Services business unit has two security competencies: the first is Foresight – Enterprise Security Management.

Foresight is an enterprise grade vulnerability management solution that covers the full spectrum of security requirements from vulnerability analysis through to policy compliance checking. By understanding each organizations unique business, Foresight adds value by correlating vulnerability management and compliance data to fiscal risk values so that organizations can understand their financial risk, and operationally drive that risk down as required by the business.

Foresight empowers you to reduce enterprise wide risk within and around the operational backbone by identifying risk issues within both business-critical and operational IT resources, correlating them with validated vulnerabilities & policy violations and providing risk-based task-lists with dynamic instructions for step-by-step remediation.
The second competency focuses on physical security, i.e. CCTV, smartcards, biometrics, access control and perimeter protection.
